Projekt Dokumentarfilm:
„Yogis Of Tibet“

Since everything is but an illusion,
Perfect in being what it is,
Having nothing to do with good or bad,
Acceptance or rejection,
One might as well burst out laughing!

H.H. 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, “The King of Yogis“

With the film Yogis of Tibet I want to document the millennia-old tradition of the Yogis for posterity before their knowledge and examples are pushed from an increasingly materialistic world into the realm of myths and fairy tales. The Yogis say themselves that they are the last of their kind.
Since I discovered Buddhism for myself, I have been fascinated by the examples of Tibetan Yogis. On my first journey to Tibet in 2007, I wanted to meet this extraordinary people in person. At the beginning of the journey, I had no idea if this tradition survived the turmoil of recent Tibetan history. At the end of the journey I had met people and phenomena that cannot be explained with our Western understanding of reality.
The footage from this journey of which I thought it would only be researching material became the documentary film Looking for Ancient Tibet. Although my options were very limited at that time, the film became one of the most successful documentary films of recent years in Germany.  In the new film Yogis of Tibet the Yogis themselves will have their say. Before, in-depth discussions were not possible due to translation issues. The encounters with the Yogis consisted of an aspect with an admiration from our side and of an examination of our authenticity from the side of the Yogis.
If you like my first movie Looking for ancient Tibet you will love Yogis of Tibet. With your help, we will travel to Tibet and give you insights into the world of yogis.
